Considered to be one of the most highly-regarded horse races to be held at Sydney’s illustrious Royal Randwick Racecourse is the Doncaster Handicap. A Group 1 thoroughbred race, it is held annually in April, forming part of the peak season for horse racing in Sydney. Commonly known as the Doncaster Mile, the Doncaster Handicap remains one of the highly attractive features amongst horse racing punters, gamblers and enthusiasts from across Australia and even the world.

The Doncaster Handicap is competed over 1,600 metres by horses three-years-old and over under handicap conditions. Offering an incredibly substantial $1.5 million in prize money, the level of competition between competitors is fierce to say the least. The Doncaster Handicap was traditionally held on Easter Monday, however in recent years has changed to be raced on the third Saturday in April.
